Animal Welfare Fortnightly 2008

Admire All Amphibians-Frogs are Fabulous
Amphibian Awareness Education programmes

In India, Animal Welfare Fortnightly has been celebrated for the last 50 years during last half of January; this year it was celebrated January 14-28. During this celebration, Zoo Outreach Organisation (ZOO) always offers special items sponsored by the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare and the Chester Zoo. This year, ZOO distributed thousands of educational materials on amphibians and other species to help people celebrate Animal Welfare Fortnightly in a more meaningful way. ZOO distributed hundreds of amphibian education packets, which contain a booklet, placard, mask, Rakhi (wrist band) and an amphibian bumper sticker, to educators who requested them.  Twenty five members of ZOO's South Asian Network of International Zoo Educators Association (SAN IZE) ordered these packets and conducted awareness programs on the current Amphibian Crisis. Some of the organizations that used the materials were: OASIS, Mumbai in Maharashtra, India; Conservation Himalayas Chandigarh, India; World Way International School, Bhopal; DPIRS, Mysore. These materials will be used throughout 2008.
